８月１４日は、「慰安婦メモリアルディ」です。その日、日本でも新宿靖国通りをデモ隊が歩きました。

同時に韓国で、台湾で、フィリピンで、アメリカで・・・「慰安婦問題解決」を求めるデモがなされました。

―8月14日「慰安婦」デモの台湾からの報告―

On August 14, around 300 Taiwan activists and students protested outside Japan’s Interchange Association (IAJ), whichis the country’s de-facto embassy in Taiwan, demanding the Japanese governmentapologize and compensate women forced to work as sex slaves in its militaryduring World War II. This year, there are only 6 remaining “comfort women”survivors, averaging 88 years old. None of them were able to join the protesttoday.

8月14日、日本交流協会(IAJ)、台湾での事実上の日本大使館のまわりで、第二次世界大戦中日本軍性奴隷として働くことを強制された女性への謝罪と補償を日本政府に要求して、台湾の活動家と学生が抗議行動を行った。今年、「慰安婦」を生き延びた残存者は平均年齢88歳、たった6人である。その内の誰一人として今日の抗議行動に参加することはできなかった。

　

The theme of the demonstration is “Rip off Japanese politicians’fake masks!” in response to Osaka Mayor Hashimoto’s recent comment on the issueof the “comfort women,” and the right-wing politicians’ controversial remarkssaying that there was no concrete evidence about the existence of the sex slavesystem during the war. Protesters held placards that read “justice for allcomfort women,” “return my dignity,” and white masks symbolizing hypocrisy ofJapanese politicians. The majority of the protesters were universitystudents, who got to know the demonstration through Ahma’s Paper Plane, a student-ledgroup founded by a university student from National Taiwan University,introducing history and stories of the Taiwanese “comfort women” to the youngergeneration.

デモのテーマは、「慰安婦」問題についての橋本大阪市長の最近のコメントと、大戦中性奴隷制の存在について確たる証拠はないとの右翼政治家たちの問題発言に応える「日本の政治家たちのいんちき面を引っぺがせ」である。抗議行動参加者たちは「すべての慰安婦に正義を」、「私の尊厳を返せ」と書かれたプラカードを掲げ、日本の政治家の偽善を象徴する白いマスクを付けていた。参加者の大多数は大学生であったが、このデモを知ることになったのは、台湾人「慰安婦」の歴史と体験をより若い世代に伝えようと国立台湾大学の学生が立ち上げたアマの紙飛行機という学生グループからだった。

 

The demonstration began with TWRF ExecutiveDirector Shu-hua Kang’s introduction and guests’ remarks. Then young protestersthen performed a skit condemning Japanese politicians for what they calledimproper comments on the “comfort women,” including those by Taro Aso, ShinzoAbe, Shintaro Ishihara, and Toru Hashimoto, who caused uproars over the yearsby either denying Japan’s involvement in the comfort women system, or statingthat these women worked at military brothels voluntarily. In the end of the skit,these 4 politicians were forced to put on prison uniforms and kneel down beforethe crowd.

デモはTWRF(台北婦女救援基金會Taipei Women's Rescue Foundation)事務局長シュウ-フア・カンの開会挨拶とゲストの発言で始まった。次いで、麻生太郎、安倍晋三、石原慎太郎、橋本徹による妄言を含む「慰安婦」に関するいわゆる問題発言につき日本の政治家たちを断罪する寸劇が演じられた。彼らは、慰安婦制度への日本の関与を否定したり、あるいは慰安婦は軍慰安所で自由意思で働いていたと公言していた。寸劇の終幕ではこの4人の政治家たちは囚人服を着せられ、群衆の前で跪かされた。

カンは主要三要求を提起し、TWRFが日本政府にこの問題に注意を払うよう圧力をかけるため我われのキャンペーンの一環として過去数か月にわたって集めた約1500通のハガキとともに、申し入れ書をIAJ代表に手渡した。

1．我われは、日本政府を代表して内閣総理大臣が犠牲者に公式に謝罪し、適切な補償を申し出ることを要求する。

2．我われは日本政府が、第二次世界大戦中日本という国の強制による性奴隷制があったことを認めること、また、その立場を決して変えないことを要求する。

3．我われは日本政府が、慰安婦に関する歴史的事実を捻じ曲げるような公にするいかなる言辞をも禁止する法律を制定することを要求する。

 

IAJの電信室主任が我われの申し入れ書を受け取りに出てきたが、参加者たちはもっと地位の高い職員を要求し、カンは彼に申し入れ書を渡すのを拒否した。我われの粘り強い努力による数回の交渉ののち、やっとIAJの領事室主任が申し入れ書と千数百通のハガキを受け取りにあらわれた。ところが彼は政府に代わってのコメントを何もすることなく、踵を返して中に戻ってしまった。抗議行動参加者たちは、「日本は謝罪せよ」、「頑張れ、慰安婦さん」、「アマに彼女たちの尊厳を返せ」などとスローガンを繰り返し叫び続けた。抗議する人たちは解散する前に白いマスクを協会の敷地に投げ入れた。そこは警備員とバリケードで封鎖されていた。最後にカンは、生存者の皆さんは老いを重ねており、ひょっとして私たちのもとを去られたとしても、私たちのような若い世代が皆さんのために闘い続けるから、歴史は決して忘れられることはないでしょう、と力強く語った。日本政府が過去の過ちすべてを認め、行ったことすべてについて犠牲者に謝罪するまで、我々は決してあきらめない。
